CARBON KNUCKLE PROTECTOR

CARBON KNUCKLE PROTECTOR

Our carbon knuckle protectors are made with the utmost care and boost the security for some of our top styles. To get a fiber carbon product (CFRP, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer), two elements are required: the carbon fiber, that is, the structural material responsible for the mechanical properties and a resin, within whom the carbon fiber filaments are plunged, responsible for the fiber cohesion. The resulting composite material has high mechanical characteristics due to its very low weight. Its specific weight is about 1.5 - 1.8 g/cm3, about a quarter that of iron and just over half that of aluminium. Carbon fiber based composite materials were discovered in the 1950s but the first commercial developments came in in the 1970s and the first carbon knuckle protected gloves were introduced in the mid 1990s.

KNUCKLE PROTECTOR

KNUCKLE PROTECTOR

Being just simple paddings or riverts, knuckle protectors were introduced in the production of motorcycle gloves thanks to the experience gained in competitions in the 1980s. Paddings evolved with the introduction of Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) foam and more recently, Viscoelastic (Polyurethane Memory Foam) and are commonly used in the production of urban gloves. Rivets, on the other hand, gave way to more modern elements in Thermo-Plastic material, especially TPR/TPU (Thermoplastic Rubber/Thermoplastic Polyurethane) or Carbon Fiber. The use of TPR/TPU knuckle protectors has become commonplace but most frequently used in high-end gloves. Knuckle protectors made of viscoelastic, thermoplastic and carbon material make it easier to obtain the CE certification as KP, an acronym meaning “Knuckle protected“ which indicates there is greater safety in the event of an impact.

WRIST STRAP CLOSURE

WRIST STRAP CLOSURE

Wrist strap to prevent gloves slipping off combined with the most widespread velcro closures contributes to providing that extra safety so sought after by the most demanding motorcyclists and should always be considered when choosing touring and competition gloves.

SAFETY FINGER BRIDGE

SAFETY FINGER BRIDGE

3rd/4rd finger bridge stems from the experience in competition and prevents the separation, twisting and consequent injury of the little finger, that is, finger roll and potential seam bursting in case of impact. Its presence is crucial in competition gloves for a more professional use of the motorcycle.

VISOR WIPER

VISOR WIPER

System to wipe off the rain from the helmet screen consisting of a rubber (TPR) or polyurethane (TPU) insert sewn into the index finger or thumb, depending on the glove style. Its function is similar to the car's wiper blade.

CARBON-SILICON WIRING

CARBON-SILICON WIRING

Garibaldi has been producing heating gloves since 2014. We currently boast an innovative heating system with carbon wire silicon coated that is impossible to break while offering an excellent heat dissipation. Warmer gloves thanks to our heating wiring that has been designed to withstand high temperatures without breaking or deforming.

CAPACITIVE TECHNOLOGY

CAPACITIVE TECHNOLOGY

The capacitive touch screen is a hardware device that allows the user to interact with the mobile or computer simply by touching the glass. When you touch the screen with your fingers, the flow of electrons present in it is distorted and the device, through sensors, detects the distortion by assigning its own coordinates to each touch. The mobile capacitive touch screens respond only to the contact with the body or with special conductors. To use devices with this technology without taking off your gloves, we have sewn in most of our styles patches of conductive fabric into the fingertips that reproduce the same effect of them.

High-performance Polyurethane coated microporous membrane. 10000 mm/column waterproof and breathable

WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE H-DRY® MEMBRANE

WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE H-DRY® MEMBRANE

The HDry® waterproof breathable membrane is directly laminated to the inner side of the glove shell by a patented 3D lamination process being the external glove shell layer and the membrane an only shell, with no space in between. Rain, snow and wind are blocked on the glove’s outer surface and a large volume of dry air keeps the hand warm and comfortable. The ultra-thin waterproof HDry membrane and the unique seamless and tapeless lamination process increase dexterity and offer a precise fit. It is a “direct lamination” process of the membrane that eliminates all drawbacks associated with traditional “free-hanging” glove inserts, where water can penetrate in the gap in between the shell and the membrane. Garibaldi uses this membrane in one of its high-end Primaloft gloves, the Ultratech.

Z-LINER MEMBRANE CONSTRUCION

Z-LINER MEMBRANE CONSTRUCION

In a Z-Liner construction, a waterproof and breathable membrane is inserted as a separate free layer between the outer shell and the fixed lightweight inner lining improving the garments breathability. Most Garibaldi jackets use this Z-liner construction.

With a thickness of just 5 micrometers, Windmaster Sympatex is an incredibly lightweight and versatile windbreak membrane. Common applications include shoes, gloves, and lightweight outerwear.

STRETCHABLE LYCRA ELASTAN

STRETCHABLE LYCRA ELASTAN

Lycra and Spandex are trademarks of Elastene, an urethane-urea copolymer invented in 1959 by the chemists C.L. Sandquist and Joseph Shivers in the DuPont laboratory. As strong and durable as its natural competitor, latex, elastane is not a fabric, but a synthetic fiber that is used along with other materials such as polyamide or cotton, to form a more elastic fabric. When we talk about Lycra or Elastene we generally refer to a Polyamide fabric whose threads have been stretched with a small amount between 1% and 10% of Lycra.

STRETCHABLE SPANDEX

STRETCHABLE SPANDEX

Spandex is not a fabric but the synthetic fiber Elastene, also known as Lycra, invented by DuPont in 1959. It is used in small percentages in combination with other materials in the spinning of fabrics that require special elasticity. However, in the collective memory of motorcyclists, Spandex identifies a special three-way stretch polyester fabric, with a tiny pattern of raised checks, used in the manufacture of urban gloves. It is thanks to this texture that we appreciate the perfect ergonomics of the Spandex gloves in all its nuances and its great comfort. Although it is a material used especially in urban gloves with the best value for money, we highly advise to ensure that the quality is the highest and most appropriate.

MICROFIBRA SEA-ISLAND

MICROFIBRA SEA-ISLAND

The Korean chemical industry has created the animal-inspired microfiber using the Polyester Ultra-micro Fiber Technology to obtain a material similar to the animal skin. This material is made up of polyester and polyurethane fibers. For the manufacturing process, named Sea-Island, the polyester fibers are aligned following a specific patented pattern. These fibers are subsequently joined by a polyurethane resin that gives them strength and uniformity. The product undergoes an industrial process of spinning and chopping that gives it that velvety appearance so similar to suede. Microfiber is commonly used on the back of gloves.

NEOPRENE TECH FOAM FABRIC

NEOPRENE TECH FOAM FABRIC

Neoprene, originally called Duprene, is the commercial brand of Polychroprene, a family of synthetic rubbers obtained by polymerization of Chloroprene. This polymer was invented by some scientists from the Du Pont company in 1930, becoming the first synthetic rubber produced on an industrial scale. Neoprene has good chemical elasticity and maintains its flexibility in a wide range of temperatures. It’s a flexible material, withstands chemical agents, solvents, the heat produced by the sun’s rays, bad weather and does not break.

COTTON

COTTON

Cotton is the most important natural fiber produced in the world. It grows around the seeds of the cotton plant, a shrub of the genus Gossypium that belongs to the Malvaceae family. Originally from tropical and subtropical regions, its importance began in the 19th century with the industrialization process and today it still represents almost half of the world's consumption of textile fibers. Cotton is mainly used in the motorcycle world for the production of Denim pants.

LEATHER

LEATHER

Leather is a material with a strong tradition in the history of manufacturing articles for motorcyclists and its use is widespread in garments and gloves thanks to its recognized characteristics of resistance and durability. With leather you can get a modern, classic or timeless style and thanks to its nobility a higher quality content can be expressed compared to other materials. Garibaldi uses the extraordinarily flexible, longlasting and water-repelent Goat Drum Dyed leather in most of its gloves. Soft, light, gentle and resistant, it is perfect for motorcycle gloves due to the presence of a waxy grease called lanolin. The Drum Dyed process consists on placing the skin in a closed rotating drum. To make the tough leather soft, smooth stones, tanning agents, and vegetable dyes are also added inside the drum. The Drum Dyed leather comes out of the tank with a good dye absorption rate and when a product with Goat DD leather is scratched, the scratches don´t show as much as the leather tanned using normal methods.

KANGAROO LEATHER

KANGAROO LEATHER

The kangaroo leather is mainly used in the competition gloves thanks to its superior resistance to abrasion, strength and low weight. Our kangaroo leather is extraordinarily flexible and durable and it is used in our Gladius gloves, style worn by the most-experienced race riders.

PU LEATHER

PU LEATHER

If we seek to achieve the appearance of leather, without pretending to emulate its mechanical characteristics, there are good synthetic alternatives to leather such as Polyurethane. PU leather is a completely artificial material made of a thermoplastic polymer. It is considered vegan, costs less than genuine leather because it is easier to manufacture, does not absorb water and is easy to clean. It can be made in a variety of colors and styles and is better for sustainability because it uses fewer resources to make.

SUPERFABRIC ANTI-ABRASIÓN COATING

SUPERFABRIC ANTI-ABRASIÓN COATING

SuperFabric is created from a base fabric such as Nylon or Polyester which is covered with tiny high-resistance ceramic plates following different patterns. The spaces between these plates allow flexibility similar to that of other materials. Its main qualities are resistance to cuts and abrasion, becoming 10 times more resistant than Kevlar, while if we compare it with the skin of competition suits, which resists abrasion between 1.200 and 1.700 cycles, Superfabric offers about 3.750 cycles. Garibaldi uses Superfabric on the palm protector of one of its high-end heated gloves, the Boosted TCS Primaloft.

KEVLAR ARAMIDE FIBRES

KEVLAR ARAMIDE FIBRES

Aramid fibres such as Kevlar are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibres formed of polymers with repeating aromatic groups branching from a carbon backbone. Aramid is a polyamide where at least 85% of the amide bonds are attached to aromatic rings. Aromatic polyamides have become a breakthrough material in the commercial applications. In the motorcycle field they are mainly used to reinforce Denim jeans and racing gloves. Garibaldi uses them in its racing gloves such as Gladius, Nexus Gari and Nexus.

REFLECTIVE REFLEX

REFLECTIVE REFLEX

High visibility elements or elements with highly reflective properties have been initially incorporated into work clothes and then extended to other fields such as the motorcycle sector, where it is also important to be seen in order to avoid accidents. High visibility elements are characterized by being made with two types of materials: fluorescent background material and retroreflective material. The correct choice of these materials and their application at strategic points of the motorcycle equipment is what provides the necessary qualities to improve visibility both during the day and at night.
